Strategic Decision Support

How to know which decision to make? We at Optimation offers you a chance to get a glimpse of the future. Simulating with our decision support tools gives you an insight in what different alternatives have for consequence on the plant’s production.

When faced with important strategic decisions it can be hard to know what decision is right. To facilitate complex decision makings, we are convinced that decision support in the form of a simulator is the right way to go. By connecting data from the plant (production capacities, planned and unplanned stops, etc.) to a process model we can not only study the current plant, but even study a modification in the plant or a completely new plant.

With a simulator that is easy for the user to get familiar with and where one year just takes a few minutes to simulate it is possible to quickly get answers to numerous questions, for example:

  • What actions would most increase the production?
  • What capacity should the plant have?
  • What effects would it have if we manage to reduce the corrective maintenance?

Why?

Evaluate production targets

  • A plant is often complex and includes complex interactions. It is therefore not completely trivial to see what a credible production target could be. With a simulator configurated in accordance with the plant it is possible to overcome these complex connections and correctly evaluate the plant’s production target.

Identify bottlenecks

  • To know where the current bottlenecks are in the plant is necessary to be able to increase the production. When a bottleneck is “taken care of” a new one shows up straightaway. With our strategic decision support, it is possible to identify current and upcoming bottlenecks in the process and thereby work with them faster, or even in parallel.

Choose investments

  • If using a simulation before a future decision on investment it is possible to quickly get an idea of which investments have best potential for increasing the production, and thereby the profit.

Increase understanding

  • Simulating enables to develop an understanding for how different parts of the process are connected. We believe that thins increases the engagement and improves the communication among coworkers – both internally and externally.

How does it work?

Our decision support is not connected to a specific industry or process, it develops in consultation with you as client, from your specific needs.
